Remote access
Shrevix Remote lets another device control a running Shrevix desktop. The remote interface works on phones, tablets, and laptop browsers, while conversations, tools, repositories, credentials, and model runtimes remain on your computer.
Open remote.shrevix.com when you are ready to pair.
Understand the connection screen
Section titled “Understand the connection screen”Before pairing, the Remote landing page explains what stays active between your desktop and the device in your hand. Its animated session preview illustrates the live connection: work continues on the desktop while responses, completed steps, files, and approval requests appear remotely.
The preview is illustrative—it does not expose information from your desktop until you pair. Below it, the connection panel gives you two ways to continue:
- Scan desktop QR code for the fastest setup on a phone or tablet.
- Pairing code when you are using another browser or cannot access the camera. You may type the code without dashes; Shrevix formats it for you.
After a successful connection, the landing page is replaced by your responsive Shrevix Remote workspace.
Before you pair
Section titled “Before you pair”You need:
- the latest Shrevix desktop app installed and open,
- an internet connection on both devices, and
- Remote access showing connected in desktop settings.
Remote control is available only while the paired desktop is running. Closing Shrevix makes that desktop unavailable until the app opens and reconnects.
Pair a device
Section titled “Pair a device”- In Shrevix desktop, open Settings → Remote access.
- Open remote.shrevix.com on the other device.
- Select Scan desktop QR code, or enter the pairing code shown below the QR code in the desktop app. Dashes are added automatically when you type.
- Wait for the connected confirmation. Shrevix Remote opens with the current sessions and desktop state.
The code is single-use and expires after ten minutes. The desktop refreshes it automatically. If you restart the app or a code has already been used, scan the new QR code rather than reusing the previous one.
What you can do remotely
Section titled “What you can do remotely”Start and continue conversations
Section titled “Start and continue conversations”Start a session with a selected workspace, agent, model, mode, and reasoning effort, or open an existing session and continue it. The composer also supports file attachments. While a run is active, send another message to add guidance; it appears immediately in the transcript and is forwarded to the desktop run. Streaming responses stay pinned to the latest work until you scroll away intentionally, with a scroll-to-bottom control available when newer work arrives.
The session transcript keeps user messages, answers, tool activity, questions, approvals, task progress, and final responses in the same order as desktop. Open a delegation event to follow the delegated agent’s own conversation.
To keep large sessions smooth on phones and browsers, Remote renders the latest 100 transcript events. A notice reports how much older activity is hidden; the durable session remains complete on the desktop.
Answer and approve
Section titled “Answer and approve”Questions and approval requests appear inside the live transcript. You can answer a question, approve or deny a command, and stop an active run without returning to the desktop. Remote access uses the same Plan, Approval, or Bypass policy already selected for that session.
Read files and documents
Section titled “Read files and documents”Open workspace files from File explorer or a transcript tool event. Shrevix Remote presents code and text with editor-style formatting and supports Markdown, images, PDF, video, and other common preview formats. File access is restricted to the workspace already attached on desktop. Markdown preview also renders fenced Mermaid diagrams.
Documents and artifacts open full screen on smaller devices. Browse the Documents library and open supported Markdown, text, image, PDF, audio, video, and tabular output without leaving the remote interface.
Connect MCP services
Section titled “Connect MCP services”Open More → Connections to connect, update, or disconnect the same MCP services available in the desktop app. Credential-based connections are entered on the remote device and delivered directly to the paired desktop’s encrypted credential store. For OAuth connections, consent opens in the current browser and returns to the Connections page when complete.
Provider application secrets never appear in the remote browser. MCPs that support dynamic client registration exchange tokens directly on the paired desktop. For providers that require a pre-registered OAuth application, the hosted service performs the confidential code exchange and returns the user’s tokens to the desktop for local storage and refresh.
Use it like an app
Section titled “Use it like an app”On a supported mobile browser, choose Install full-screen app from the Shrevix Remote menu. On iPhone or iPad, use the browser’s Add to Home Screen action. The installed experience removes most browser chrome and uses the available safe area around the camera and home indicator.
The same URL is responsive on tablets and laptops; larger screens switch to a sidebar layout and wider reading surfaces automatically.
Multiple connected devices
Section titled “Multiple connected devices”Several devices can connect to one desktop. Session changes and live events are broadcast to every connected device, so a phone and browser remain in sync. Desktop settings lists devices that are currently online.
To revoke access, select the remove action beside a connected device in Settings → Remote access. That device returns to the pairing screen and must scan a new code before it can connect again.
Security model
Section titled “Security model”- Pairing codes are high-entropy, single-use, and time-limited.
- A paired browser receives a protected session credential rather than the desktop’s private device credential.
- Every command is checked by the remote service and again by the desktop.
- Workspace boundaries and approval rules remain the same as local use.
- Removing a device invalidates its access immediately.
Shrevix Remote is a control surface. The paired desktop remains the execution boundary and must be online to answer a remote request.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The paired desktop is offline
Section titled “The paired desktop is offline”- Confirm Shrevix is open on the paired computer.
- Open Settings → Remote access and wait for connected.
- If the desktop was just updated, quit the old app completely and open the copy in Applications.
- Scan the newly displayed QR code.
If the desktop never changes to connected, install the latest build from the download page and reopen it.
The pairing code is invalid or expired
Section titled “The pairing code is invalid or expired”Return to desktop settings and use the currently displayed code. A code cannot be reused after a successful pairing, and an older screenshot may contain a code that has expired.
A removed device asks to pair again
Section titled “A removed device asks to pair again”This is expected. Removing a device revokes its session immediately; scan the desktop’s current QR code to authorize it again.
